When my partner, Chuck Alloo and I founded Cashin Company in 1995, we did so with the benefit of several decades worth of experience helping families buy and sell homes throughout the Peninsula. Cashin Company’s roots on the peninsula date back more than 50 years to when my dad, Emmet J. Cashin, Jr. began selling homes for Fox & Carskadon in Burlingame. Our leadership of the company grew it into the country’s largest independent brokerage in the l980’s and, through our later involvement with the national franchises, we’ve experienced the business of real estate from almost every conceivable angle.

What this experience taught us is the value of maintaining a regional, locally owned and managed brokerage. We discovered that bigger isn't necessarily better, that community involvement and mutual respect are the true measures of success, and that by building an independent family of agents we can do more good than by operating under the direction of a distant conglomerate. So, in the end, Chuck and I decided to go back to where we started from and founded our new brokerage on the original principles that my dad discovered half a century ago.
